The Winship Cancer Network brings together a strong group of community hospitals and oncologists, all of which have credible reputations in their communities and are strategically located throughout the catchment area.

Improving Access in the Community

The network provides the unique opportunity for community healthcare organizations in the region to collaborate with Winship as a major academic research center, while simultaneously building and refining individual strengths and programs.

The overarching goals of the Winship Cancer Network are to improve access to and provision of high-quality cancer care, cutting-edge research and continuing patient and provider education throughout Georgia and adjacent states.

As Georgia's only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University has expertise and a vast number of resources that are available to the Winship Cancer Network. The network provides the unique opportunity for community health care organizations in the region to collaborate with Winship as a major academic research center, while simultaneously building and refining individual strengths and programs.

Our disease-specific tumor boards meet weekly to discuss individual cases, review treatment plans and assess clinical trial eligibility. We are proud to be leaders in national and international clinical trials in cancer, making the latest treatments available to your patients in Georgia and the Southeast.

Our Affiliation Structure

With the models listed below, we work closely with organizations to tailor each affiliation to meet the specific needs of their program.

  • Clinical Affiliations: Clinical Alignment and Quality Assurance; we work closely with our affiliates on best practices and improving quality in care delivery as well as program development. We offer access to all of Winship’s multidisciplinary tumor boards, symposia, Continuing Medical Education (CME/CE) and clinical trials as well as the wide range of other Winship programs and offerings. Through this clinical affiliation, the clinical research and education affiliation is automatically included. Co-branding is available to our clinical affiliates.
  • Clinical Research and Education Affiliation: Clinical Trials and Comprehensive Education; we work closely with our affiliates to conduct assessments and regulatory and research audits. Support to our affiliates ranges from clinical trial program and department development to accessing trials to customize support for each affiliate. The educational portion of this affiliation includes access for physicians, providers, nursing, staff and all care providers to Winship CME/CE opportunities.

WinshipMD - Physician Directory App

The WinshipMD app (Winship physician directory) is a web-based mobile application exclusively for physicians and advanced practice providers enabling them to search and find a Winship physician by name, location or treatment specialty and gain access to their direct contact information.

The app helps build and strengthen relationships with community physicians by improving access to Winship physicians. The app serves as an added communication tool for second opinions and patient referrals. First-time access is vetted and granted by the Community Outreach Network Administrator. Winship physicians can use their Emory University or Healthcare ID to log into the app. For more information, contact the Winship Cancer Network at winshipcancernetwork@emory.edu.
