William S. Dynan, PhD is a professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine and a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar. Dr. Dynan is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Dynan received his PhD in Oncology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed postdoctoral training in Biochemistry at the University of California-Berkeley, where he was a Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation fellow and a Senior Fellow of the American Cancer Society (California Division).
Dr. Dynan's laboratory studies biological responses to radiation-induced DNA damage. Current work focuses on cosmic ray exposure, cancer risk and the development of medical countermeasures. The laboratory also studies exosomes, which are vesicles that are secreted by cells and tissues in response to radiation and other stressors. The work has translational applications in the fields of radiotherapy and cancer immunotherapy.
Dr. Dynan has authored over 100 scientific publications and is the editor-in-chief of NAR Cancer. He is on the editorial boards of Nucleic Acids Research and Scientific Reports.
