Marian Axente, PhD, DABR, is an assistant professor of medical physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology. An ABR board certified medical physicist, Dr. Axente's focus is multi-modality image utilization for treatment planning and patient setup in cancer radiotherapy. He serves as the associate director of the Certificate Program in Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. He joined Emory in 2020.
Dr. Axente earned his PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and completed his medical physicis residency at Stanford University in Stanford, California. He received his certification from the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics in 2015.

Research
Dr. Axente's research emphasis is on functional image treatment adaptation, and implementation of optical imaging technologies in optimizing setup reproducibility, with specific aims at foundational affordable technology that could be utilized in low- to middle-income countries.
