Biography
Vaidehi Avadhani, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. A surgical pathologist, Dr. Avadhani's clinical focus is centered around all aspects of gastrointestinal histopathology including diagnosis of complex appendiceal, colon, stomach and pancreatic cancers. She collaborates with the gastrointestinal oncology care team at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Avadhani is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Education
Dr. Avadhani received her MBBS from Calicut Medical College in Calicut, India, and completed a pathology residency at B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. After completing her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York, she completed a cytopathology fellowship and a gastrointestinal pathology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.

Research
Dr. Avadhani's current research involves improving diagnostic accuracy by minimally invasive procedures with emphasis in cytomorphology in multiple organ systems, including pancreas, biliary tract, head and neck (salivary gland and thyroid) pathology and pulmonary pathology.
